Ten years of Hot Air Balloon Flights celebration over Ipswich.
It only seems like yesterday that Floating Images Hot Air Balloon flights was the region’s newest attraction. But the reality is that Floating Images is celebrating its 10th Birthday, flying over the heritage city of Ipswich, Somerset & Scenic Rim region.
Floating Images embarked on its inaugural inflation and tethered the balloon at Limestone Park in Ipswich on Saturday 1st Dec 2001. Since then Floating Images Managing Director & Chief pilot Graeme Day has flown over 8000 people over Ipswich, Somerset & the Scenic Rim region from local, intrastate, interstate & international visitors.
Owner & Chief pilot Graeme Day said “it has been an amazing & very proud journey to date”. In the last 10 years, I have spent over 800 hours above the city of Ipswich & Scenic Rim. I have watched how Ipswich & the Scenic Rim has grown & changed from above. Ipswich is a very green city, not a concrete jungle as well as being only minutes away from being in the countryside.
My passengers continually tell me that “you have the best job in the world”. And I know I do as I get to show Ipswich, Somerset & the Scenic Rim region at it’s best, in a hot air balloon basket floating above, silently with the wind gently pushing you across the sky.
We have flown many diverse groups of people, “young and old and in between who have come from all walks of life”, who have had their birthdays, Mothers & Fathers Day, Valentine Day, Family Reunions, Anniversaries, proposals, weddings, citizenship ceremonies, celebration of life moments, bucket lists, business network & marketing functions or simply for the experience of flying in a hot air balloon!
Because the scenery around Ipswich & Somerset & the Scenic Rim region is so spectacular, passengers are not just locals, or from Brisbane & surrounds, but also interstate & internationals.
This is a proud achievement for a small family business, as Floating Images is Ipswich’s longest running adventure tourism business, and the first ballooning operator to offer hot air balloon flights in Ipswich & Somerset & the Scenic Rim region.
Over the past ten years, Floating Images has been a proactive tourism operator promoting Ipswich as a tourism destination with much to see, do & explore not only locally but also interstate, nationally and internationally at various consumer & trade show each year. Dorothy O'Sullivan on her 98th Birthday
On Sunday morning, Floating Images Hot Air Balloon company had the honour & privilege of flying Dorothy O’Sullivan for her 98th birthday present, in mans oldest form of flight – hot air ballooning that is now 228 year old.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, we all have dream & desires. Even at 98 years of age.
Dorothy O’Sullivan wanted to chase her dream by experiencing a hot air balloon flight. Friends of Dorothy told her to go experience ballooning with Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Company. So for 98th birthday present Dorothy’s family booked her in for Hot Air Balloon flight with Floating Images that operates over the Ipswich, Scenic Rim & Somerset regions.
Chief Pilot Graeme Day said that Dorothy had a great time & thorough enjoyed the whole balloon experience.
