How to get to the meeting point to join your ballooning experience.

As you may have noted from our website tour options, customers are to arrange their own transfers or self-drive to the ballooning experience meeting point in Ipswich.

All transfers within our flight program are included only in our tours. Brisbane CBD or suburb pick-up transfers are not included. Brisbane accommodation transfers to the ballooning experience meeting point are an additional service and cost.

We currently meet all our guests/ passengers for the ballooning experience at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre; just 30 minutes’ drive west of Brisbane CBD/ Central.

All transfers within our flight program are included for our guests only in our tours (i.e. meeting point to launch site, landing site and to the restaurant if required).

We host our after-flight restaurant breakfast at Fourth Child Restaurant – 5 minutes up the road – where guests and passengers can chat with the Chief Pilot Graeme Day about ballooning and the region, and reflect and relive their ballooning experience whilst indulging in a freshly cooked hot breakfast (choice of 5-7), over a glass of bubblies and a personalized commemorative flight certificate presented to each passenger.

Easy to arrange early morning ballooning transfer options are available for our customers if required via alternative operators, at an additional cost depending on your budget and preference.

1.  We recommend and advise our customers to either self-drive to the meeting point via own car, rental car, private transfer, taxi or rideshare eg Uber, DiDi, Sheba, Ola, etc.

You can find rideshare options for an early morning ballooning transfer Brisbane to Ipswich through apps like Uber, DiDi, and Ola, or other services such as GoCatch and Shebah which offer on-demand transport using your mobile phone. Simply book a trip, and the platform will connect you with a driver, with options for upfront pricing and in-app safety features. For pre-booked, fixed-price transfers consider using services such as 13cabs, Black & White Cabs or Yellow Cabs.

Please ensure you reserve your rideshare, cab or taxi with sufficient time to arrive at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre 10 minutes before the nominated departure time.  (the cost is approximately $75 depending on location and user options chosen). If you are staying in hotel accommodation, you can ask the hotel concierge or reception for assistance here (maybe the day prior).

We are happy to drop guests off at the train station if they wish to return by train to Brisbane either before or after the breakfast. (Trains from Brisbane to Ipswich only commence around 5.00 am, so do not arrive in time for an early morning sunrise ballooning experience.) 

Brisbane Public Transport is convenient and economical – the Queensland Government has in place a 50 cents per trip program for all trains, buses & ferries. Given the current Queensland Government subsidy of public transport including trains, buses, and ferries within the Brisbane transport network; train fares from Ipswich to Brisbane are only 50 cents per trip ….. yes only 50 cents, this is the most economical option.!! The train station is a short 500 meters walk from the restaurant.

Ipswich is situated 40 kms west of Brisbane. Getting to Ipswich is easy with many options available to visitors:

  • By Road Ipswich is adjacent to five major arterial roads allowing for easy access via road.
  • From the East the Ipswich Motorway links Ipswich to Brisbane.
  • From the West the Warrego Highway (Highway 54) links Ipswich to major regional centres including Toowoomba, Roma and Charleville.
